The schedule is out! Come meet Sheletta at the Minnesota State Fair!

You visit her website, read the newsletta, listen to her on the radio, and see her on the news, but have you ever met Sheletta Brundidge in person? Now is your chance. Brundidge has a full list of appearances at the Minnesota State Fair where you can connect and laugh. Brundidge said it’s mutually beneficial.

“I need that love, and I’m sure people need a hug from me,” Brundidge said. “We need to get together because we gotta get through the rest of the year and we don’t know what tomorrow brings.”

Brundidge said the food and fun of the fair come at a great time as Minnesotans have been through a lot this year.

“We had the Annunciation shooting, Operation Metro Surge, and we need to get back to something like the fair, that brings everyone together regardless of political or religious affiliation. We can all enjoy a pronto pup and a bucket of Sweet Martha’s Cookies. Who doesn’t love Sweet Martha’s Cookies?!”

Fairgoers can meet Brundidge while she’s serving up onion rings, broadcasting from the WCCO Radio Booth (conveniently located next to Sweet Martha’s Cookies), or hosting a meet-and-greet at The Fraser Sensory Building, at 1353 Cosgrove St., to connect with other parents and caregivers of autistic children.

Brundidge is also unveiling her newest venture at the State Fair. “I am so excited to launch a new podcast called “Voices of Minnesota,” which focuses on what happened in the Twin Cities during Metro Surge,” Brundidge explained. “Voices of Minnesota” is collecting the dramatic stories of what happened in the Twin Cities and beyond during the federal immigration crackdown. The operation included thousands of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, thousands of people taken into custody, thousands more protesting on the streets, and two Minnesotans shot dead.

The podcast asks: What was lost and what was gained, in an effort to ultimately help the community reflect, learn, and heal. “Voices of Minnesota” is a project made possible by a partnership between ShelettaMakesADifference.org (SheMAD) and KARE 11. The podcast is funded by the St. Paul and Minnesota Ideas Grant.

Brundidge said she looks forward to meeting new people and connecting with those who consider her part of their Minnesota State Fair traditions. “Nobody does the Great Minnesota Get-Together quite like she does,” said Mikisha Nation, Minneapolis resident and executive director of Teach For America Twin Cities.  “I stop by every year to see what she’s up to, and I’m still waiting for my invitation to pull up a chair and join her on air this year!”
